SEX OFFENDER TREATMENT
FOCUS is dedicated to the safety of our children, our community, and our patients. We believe that a warm, supportive and comprehensive method of treatment is the key to safetyof the community and of our patients. The FOCUS Sex Offender Program has been providing evaluation and treatment services in Palm Beach County for 23 years. FOCUS has always been approved for Sex Offender Treatment by State, County, and Federal Probation.
FOCUS is DOC Certified to provide Sex Offender Treatment.
FOCUS is under the direction and clinical supervision of Susan LaFehr Bollinger, Ph.D., FAACS, Diplomate, American Board of Sexology, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor & Sex Therapist. Our therapists are licensed and have seven years or more experience in at FOCUS. We use three sex offender workbooks that are used through out the world. Two of them have the same material but are presented in different ways. Each group selects the book they use. The last book is by Patrick Carnes, Ph.D. This book is used for sex addictions together with the above books.
Treatment times vary. Some for 2-3 years but others may lasts until the end of probation. About two percent (2%) of our patients choose to stay in treatment long after their probation ends.
FOCUS does not “violate”; that is not our place.
FOCUS is a traditional treatment clinic. Every patient is treated with dignity and respect. We do not pass judgment or claim any authority. DOC administers the supervision and punishment; we do the treatment.
We have small groups of six patients who are intellectual, educational, and professional peers. The same men are in your group each week. You come once a week, always. We have specifically formed groups of educational and vocation blue-collar workers, white-collar workers, professional, and adolescent males, 16-25 years-old. Female patients are seen individually or placed in an appropriate group.
Last, but not least, we urge spouses, parents and children to ask questions and seek advice. Because sexual offending may have a multi-generational history, generational family sessions are encouraged. This is with the hope that the cycle of abuse will end in this generation.
Dr. Bollinger, Nylsa Calderon de Castro, LMHC, Father Michael, and Mary Ellen are happy to answer your questions about our services. Just call 561-630-2747 or just stop by to see how we operate.
FOCUS welcomes all who apply for admission and ready to work hard.
